Rumours abound that Apple is preparing a major new launch event.
The new generation of Apple iPads could be launched as soon as 22 October, according to sources ‘familiar with Apple’s plans’.
Tech blog “AllThingsD” is reporting that Apple is planning its next
invitation-only launch event that day, and that it aims to launch not
just new iPads, but the new MacBook Pro, and a new desktop operating
system – OS X Mavericks.
The fifth generation of the Californian company’s iconic iPad is
likely to be thinner and lighter, with an improved camera and a more
powerful processor – Apple’s much-vaunted new 64-bit A7 chip. Also
expected is the second-gen iPad mini, which is thought to be being
upgraded to use a “retina” display like its larger sibling.
There’s no information as to whether the new iPads might include the
Touch ID fingerprint scanner that comes with the just-released iPhone
5S.
